Christopher’s inspiration to become a Chartered Secretary came from his time working for the Derbyshire Stone Group in the late 1960’s and the encouragement provided by the then group secretary. Subsequently he joined RB Macmillan Ltd, then a leading national firm of specialist label printers for the retail sector.  He became company secretary and a pension scheme trustee.

A fascination with the legal aspects of company negotiations lead him to join a legal firm where he specialised in corporate mergers and acquisitions and charity sector work for the rest of his career.

During his career Christopher held a number of directorships and company secretaryships, including the Derby Business Venture which supported start –up enterprises.

He was Chairman of the ICSA Notts and Derby Branch in 1980.

He was a founder member and company secretary of the charity which established the Derwent Valley Heritage Way, a 55 mile footpath through Derbyshire.

He became a liveryman in 2008, joined the Court of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators in 2011 and was appointed Junior Warden in 2014 and Senior Warden in 2015.  He is a trustee of the Company’s charitable trust, and stepped down as its Chairman in 2016, after serving in that role for three years.

He is married to Ann, a solicitor, they live in Derbyshire and have two grown up children.
