WCCSA was established 50 years ago – you can read more about that here – and we have a spectacular year of celebration planned, with many exciting events to enjoy.
Launch
Our special year will begin with the Installation dinner at Painters’ Hall, which follows the annual assembly on Wednesday 7 October 2026, and members can book this in the events section in the members’ area of the website. Our guest speaker is Rob Woodward CBE, Chair of Vistry Group plc and former Chair of the Met Office, City, University of London (now City St George’s) and Glasgow Caledonian University (among other roles).
On Wednesday 21 October 2026 we have arranged a tour of Mansion House (at no charge) with an optional lunch afterwards at Brasserie Blanc. There are a few places remaining, which can be booked as above.
Lord Mayor’s Show
On Saturday 14 November nearly 50 members will be taking part in our entry to the Lord Mayor’s show. We have entered before with our professional Institute, and on another occasion with the Ward of Cheap. We now typically take part in the Modern Livery Companies float. However this year, to celebrate our Golden Jubilee, we have our own entry with a Secretarybird theme – you can find out more here.
Support for charities
We discovered as we made our preparations for the Lord Mayor’s show, that the Secretarybird is an endangered species, so we decided we would do something to support them. Those taking part in the are making donations which will allow us to adopt Sherbie, who lives at the Hawk Conservancy Trust, for 12 months – more details and photos here.
We will be supporting two other charities during the year. St Mungo’s – which supports the homeless and St Joseph’s Hospice in Hackney – which serves both the City and East London. Representatives of the two charities will join us after our Christmas lunch at Brewers’ Hall on Thursday 17 December to share details of the work they do. This will be followed by our Annual Carol Service at St Mary Aldermary with mince pies and mulled wine.
The main fund raising initiative during the year is a planned walk around the livery halls of the City of London. This will be held on Saturday 15 May 2027, so make a note in your diary and look out for more details in the New Year.
The latest list of events can be found here.
Our history
A small group of members led by Past Master Christina Parry has been working on an updated version of our history, due to be launched at our January lunch.
Other events
We will add more information about our plans as the year progresses but we hope to see all of our members at at least one event during the year and we are sure you will find many opportunities to meet new people and have some fun! Some of our events are open to others too, in particular our Sylvia Tutt Memorial lecture on 23 March 2027 which will be held in Drapers’ Hall. Save the date – and we hope to see many of you there.
