Each year the Worshipful Company of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators awards a prize to the best student in LLM Corporate Governance and Law/Grad ICSA at the University of Portsmouth. The winner from the 2019/20 cohort is Sachu Saji.

In receiving her award Sachu said, ‘It is an absolute privilege to receive the best performing student on the LLM Corporate Governance and Law/Grad.ICSA award from a prestigious organisation as the Worshipful Company of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

This achievement would not have been possible had it not been for the outstanding delivery of teaching and guidance from the lecturers and tutors, in particular Joanne Atkinson and Lee Roach, at the University of Portsmouth throughout the course of the postgraduate programme.

It is fair to say that the LLM in Corporate Governance has given me an invaluable foundation to embark on the journey to qualifying as a Chartered Secretary, as well as allowing me to establish an incredible career. Currently, I am working as an Assistant Consultant for Company Matters (part of Link Group).

At Company Matters I work alongside some of the best governance experts to provide company secretarial/governance support and advice to a range of Companies, varying from FTSE 250 constituents to Private Limited Companies. Promotion of good governance is also an integral part of my role at Company Matters, an example of which is my participation in Company Matters’ report exploring boardroom diversity within AIM and FTSE small cap companies. As such, I am immensely proud to also play a role in improving governance.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Worshipful Company of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and the University of Portsmouth for recognising my performance on the postgraduate course.’
