Charity is an essential part of the world of Livery Companies.  WCCSA is no different and the Charitable Trust was created at the Company’s inception. The Trust supports charities in the City of London and the London Boroughs with a bias towards the smaller charities which make up 96% of the registered charities in England and Wales.

In addition the Trust supports the Lord Mayor’s Appeal and the Armed Services while awarding prizes for success in the examinations of The Chartered Governance Institute. The Trust does not normally offer financial support to individuals.

If you would like to make an application for a grant you must use the Trust’s application form. This can be downloaded HERE along with the guidance notes. Your application will be considered at one of the quarterly Trustee meetings. If you would like to discuss your application, want more information or to know the date of the next Trustee meeting please email the Honorary Secretary.

The Trustees’ policy is to normally make grants in support of:

• Educational awards for success in the examinations of The Governance Institute and in collaborative courses between The Governance Institute and several Universities;
• Education and social welfare in the City of London and Inner London boroughs;
• The charities nominated annually by the Lord Mayor of the City of London and by the Master of the Company;
• Charities relating to current or former members of the Armed Services and awards for members of the Armed Services with which the Company has affiliations;
• The advancement of education;
• The relief of suffering, and
• Assistance for older people.
