Past Master Francis Bergin became a Member of the Livery Company in October, 1977.

After qualifying with Unilever PLC he became Director and Secretary of various companies and was for forty years a Consultant at the Institute of Directors leading courses and seminars in The Art of Chairing Meetings and The Role of the Company Chair (Corporate Governance). He was for many years Director of Studies at The School of Business Administration and was for five years a Visiting Lecturer at the European Business School.

He is a Past President of The Institute of Company Accountants (later merged with The Association of International Accountants).

Francis is the author of “Practical Communication” (Pitman) and “Successful Presentations” (Director Books) as well as numerous articles in “The Accountant”, “The International Accountant” and “Chartered Banker”.

He is a Past Chairman of St. Mungo’s and the Hyelm Movement (both Housing Associations), for fifteen years a General Commissioner of Taxes and for ten years Hon. Treasurer of The Royal Philharmonic Society.

He is also s Senior Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Bakers, and an Honorary Liveryman of The Educators’ Company. He was was one of the founders of the national charity Help the Homeless of which he is Chairman.
