Past Master David Wright presided over the celebrations to mark the silver jubilee of the grant of Letters Patent to the Company. He was thus the public “face of the Company” in one of it’s most important years, meeting representatives of royalty, distinguished guests and dignitaries at numerous prestigious events.

He funded Company newsletters to provide members with information.

Within the Company he strengthened all aspects of its activities, including finances, fellowship, charitable giving and its associations with the City and Armed Services, as well as inaugurating the apprentice scheme. He was a champion of the Almoner scheme and subsequently rendered distinguished service in that role for many years, as well as championing the need for wheelchair access in livery halls.
