The funding we receive from WCCSA each year supports the provision of peripatetic music teachers and Outward Bound activities.

Our BTEC music qualification focuses on the practical workings of the music industry and provides students with the relevant skills and knowledge needed to start a career within this field. All our music lessons (drums, guitar, piano and voice) are provided by working musicians from within the industry. They are experienced performers, session musicians and are all in their own bands. They bring a wealth of experiences and broaden our students’ horizons of playing music.

Outward Bound expeditions provide our students with incredible and unforgettable experiences of adventuring in the wild. We currently have 24 Year 9 students in
Wales who are camping, mountaineering and wild swimming. The expeditions push students out of their comfort zone, build resilience, foster teamwork, broaden
horizons and change their perceptions of what is possible. We can forward a full report of their trip in early January.

Last year (June 2021) we adapted to COVID restrictions and provided sporting and team building activities in school. The WCCSA funding supported the provision of a whole day programme facilitated by Outward Bound and Born4Sport. Students took part in activities they wouldn’t normally get in school, including hockey, boxing, fitness coaching and team building.
