Our Apprentice Rory Herbert has flown off to Hong Kong as our Exchange Intern.

By the time you read this he should have experienced Chek Lap Kok airport, and the Airport Express. (To my mind one of the great train engineering feats; a high speed comfortable train service into the centre of Hong Kong in under 30 minutes and all for less than £10.)

He should also have found his accommodation for his stay. Rory will be staying in Kowloon in a hotel that used to be part of the Shek Kip Mei Estate.

Originally a public resettlement block, built in 1954, it is the only remaining part of the Estate and has been fully renovated and revitalised into a youth hostel with 129 rooms and dormitories. The hostel combines state-of-the-art facilities with a unique cultural and heritage flavour of Hong Kong to provide guests with an unrivalled travel experience. (says their website) To be more exact the building also includes a museum.

We can only await Rory’s news from Hong Kong with anticipation…
