The Company held its annual Tutt Rivers Lecture at Stationers’ Hall on 21st March. Two of the most respected figures in the governance field, David Styles, Director Corporate Governance and Stewardship, at the Financial Reporting Council and Peter Swabey, Policy and Research Director at The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland, stood in for Sir Win Bischoff. They spoke about the Financial Reporting Council’s (FRC) landmark report in 2016 on Corporate Culture and the role of the Boards, how this came about, the issues it sought to address and the work still needing to be done. Past Master David Lock, the Chair of our Education Committee, then gave a short update on the Company’s own research project which follows on from the FRC Report.

Following these presentations, the Master compered a Q&A Panel which included in addition Court Assistant Lorraine Young, who is a prominent governance professional and a Past President of the Institute.
